The IL-96T long-range cargo airplane was designed on the basis of the IL-96-300.
The IL-96T is designed for transportation of various cargoes with total weight of up to 92 tons. The maximum flight range
is 14000km. The airplane is equipped with the PW-2337 engines manufactured by the «PRATT & WHITNEY» (USA)
and «Collins» (USA) avionics.
Configuration and composition of aircraft equipment provide for the following:
- piloting by a two-member crew;
- automatic flight control;
- aircraft navigation in any region of the world and in any weather conditions;
- automatic approach and landing procedure according to the 3d category of the International
Civil Aviation Organization;
The airplane has three cargo compartments as follows:
- 580m3 main deck with 245 m2 floor;
- 114m3 front lower cargo compartment;
- 82m3 rear lower cargo compartment.
The main deck cargo door with dimensions of 4850õ2875mm permits loading of various standard cargo trays including 12-feet containers.
The maximum number of trays is: 25 pieces of Ð6 plus 1 piece of Ð1.
The lower cargo compartments contain as follows:
- front compartment 18 LD-3 containers,
- rear compartment 14 LD-3 containers.
The main deck and lower compartments have the floor-mounted cargo and trays moving and lashing system ensuring fast loading
and unloading operations.
The dimensions of the upper deck cargo compartment and floor-mounted mechanization system allow carriage and transportation
of the trays and containers similar to the nomenclature carried by the B-747F and À300-600F. The upper deck is equipped with
chairs for cargo attendants.
The first IL-96T took off on May 16, 1997.
Test-pilots were: S.G.Bliznyuk and A.N.Knishev.
The AR MAK type certificate No. ÑÒ 152-Èë-96Ò was obtained in March 1998.
The FAA type certificate No.A54NM was obtained in June 1999.
