In 1982, as a result of work on the IL-76 aircraft aimed at improvement of its characteristics, the ILYUSHIN team unveiled
the IL-76TD modified version, where TD meant long-range transport. In comparison with the IL-76 earlier version, the IL-76TD
version possesses 20 additional tons of the take-off weight that now equals to 190 tons; the maximum commercial payload now
equals to 50 tons; the practical flight range for the maximum load capacity was also increased. In order to increase the
airplane maximum take-off weight and payload the designers strengthened the wing structure, fuselage and landing gear elements.
The IL-76TD can be operated using the same runways as the IL-76.
The IL-76TD has the Aircraft Operational Certificate.
