Perspectives of Russian transport aviation were discussed at «Aviastar-SP» aircraft factory featuring Dmitry Medvedev

WhatsApp Image 2017-06-08 at 10.33.05.jpegThe conference on the support measures of developers, manufacturers and maintainers of Russian aircraft engineering, which, among the others, addressed the issue of a future of transport aviation of Russia, was conducted the day before at Uliyanovsk «Aviastar-SP» factory under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.

Among participants of the event were presented Deputy Chairman of the RF Government Dmitry Rogozin, Minister of the RF Industry and Trade Denis Manturov, Minister of Finance of the RF Anton Siluanov, President of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) Yury Slyusar, Vice President of the UAC - Director General of «Ilyushin Aviation Complex» OJSC Aleksei Rogozin.

During the visit, Dmitry Medvedev and other distinguished guests went over the factory «Aviastar-SP» - one of the biggest centres of aviation transport manufacturing. At the moment «Aviastar-SP» JSC performs a contract for manufacture of 39 heavy military transport aircraft Il-76МD-90А for the benefit of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation and the customer has already been supplied with three aircraft.

Aleksei Rogozin reported the realization of programs for manufacturing of military transport aircraft at the facility to the members of delegation.

«We are planning to finish joint tests of Il-76МD-90А in 2019. In fact, the aircraft is already operated by military simultaneously with the tests. Besides the aircraft is equipped with new engines and digital cockpits», - told Aleksei Rogozin.

A project for manufacturing of a development model of a perspective tanker support aircraft Il-78М-90А is now implemented on the platform of Il-76М-90А also.

«The air tanker will differ from its predecessor with its modified wing, new engines and control system. It will be able to carry more fuel. This aircraft’s hallmark is its convertibility. After dismantling of the fuelling equipment it can be used as military transport aircraft. New unified hanging fuel units will allow to increase the speed of air-to-air refuelling process», - informed Aleksei Rogozin.

Now Il-78М-90А is at the closing stage of final assembly. It will be the first aircraft tanker made in Russia. Flight tests of the aircraft will start in 2018.
