OJSC «Il» congratulates with 60 year anniversary special flight detachment «Russia»

S. all transportation of high-ranking leaders in USSR were transferred from MoD to the specially created aviation detachment of civil aircrafts. In its 60-year history special detachment changed its name many times, but its idea was the same – to transport high-ranking leaders.

At the moment the detachment is under direct subordinance of Department of Presidential Affairs. Besides the President the detachment transports Russian Federation high-ranking leaders.

Habitual base airport is Moscow "Vnukovo" airport.

For more than 50 years OJSC «IL» fruitfully cooperates with Special flight detachment. At different times the detachment operated: IL-12, IL -14, IL -18, IL -62, IL -96. With the direct participance of Genrikh Vasilievich Novozhilov – now honorary General Designer of Open Joint Stock Company Ilyushin Aviation Complex, RAS academician, twice hero of Socialist Labour, the detachment made several difficult flights.

IL-18 transported Khruschev N. S., Brezhnev L. I. In 1969 году Brezhnev L. I. changed IL-18 at jetliner IL-62, which became the main USSR aircraft till 1995. In 1995 «aircraft № 1» IL-62, passed to Eltsin B. N. from Gorbachev М. S. changed for the newest IL-96-300. Today several IL-96-300 and its modifications are in the fleet of special flight detachment «Russia». Including special variant of IL-96-300CP (command point), designed for the President of Russian Federation. The aircraft has installed equipment, allowing to control country military forces.

In 2015 one of IL-96-300, included in special flight detachment «Russia», was given a name of outstanding soviet and Russian aviation designer Genrikh Vasilievich Novozhilov.

Congratulating the detachment with the anniversary Genrikh Vasilievich Novozhilov wished flight detachment «Russia» new success in work, and the crew – clear sky and soft landing.
