March 31 2016 turns 122 years from the birthday of Sergey Vladimirovich Ilyushin, outstanding aircraft designer, founder of the same name design bureau, General designer, academician of Academy of Sciences of the USSR, colonel general of Engineering and Technical Service, three times Hero of Socialist Labor, Laureate of 7 Stalin and Lenin Prizes, USSR state prize.

Traditionally this day veterans, personnel and young specialists of OJSC «IL» have solemnly brought flowers to Ilyushin bust on the territory of the enterprize and honored the memory of famous aviation designer at Novodevichyi cemetery.

General designer Nikolai Talikov pointed out at the solemn ceremony, that «Sergey Vladimirovich had rare gift to foresee important ways for aviation development, with the skill to use in the structure of created aircrafts the new scientific achievements. He possessed outstanding engineering and organizational talent, high personal efficiency and good organization».

The day before, on March 30, OJSC «IL» opened its doors to the students of gymnasium № 1409. Vadim Kucherov, Doctor of Engineering Sciences, counsellor of the Head of the management OJSC «IL», told the guests about the history of the enterprise and the aircrafts, designed by design bureau. Later the pupils laid flowers to Ilyushin bust, took pictures against the background of the famous IL-2 monument and visited the enterprise museum.

Under Ilyushin guidance were released the best for its time samples of military and passenger aircrafts: IL-2, IL-4, IL-10, IL-12, IL-14, IL-18, IL-28, IL-38, IL-62.

These aircrafts are well known globally. They differed by simplicity of the structure, adaptability to manufacture, high reliability, long life, convenient piloting control and maintenance.

Open Joint Stock Company Ilyushin Aviation Complex personnel preserves and develops the traditions, founded by its founder.
