Il-76 aircraft showcase the personnel airdrop capability during celebration in Kaluga, honouring the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War

On March 14, 2015 the city of Kaluga hosted celebrations, honouring the 72nd anniversary of liberation of Kaluga Oblast from the Nazi aggressors during the Great Patriotic War in 1941–1945. These festivities became the first in the course of events, organized by the Airborne Forces Command as part of the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Victory.

During the events the observers witnessed personnel airdropping from the Il-76 aircraft of military-transport aviation of the Russian Air Force. A total of 4 heavy military-transport Il-76 aircraft participated in the demonstration.

The celebration was crowned by the performance of aerobatic team “Russian Knights.”

Commander of the Russian Airborne Forces and Hero of the Russian Federation, Colonel General Vladimir Shamanov and governor of Kaluga Oblast Anatoly Artamonov attended the celebrations.
